In the spiral we dance
Toward madness and eternity
From the womb we take our life,
And from the blood, we end it.

My Soul Lies Bleeding
by: Mari Adkins
May 17, 2007

Death sits on my lap
an uninivited guest
laughing at my discomfort
Unable to see his face
for the robes he wears
I know his smile
His arms rest around me
their weight on my shoulders

My soul lies bleeding
on the floor
Death whispers and laughs
into my ears

I lay my head down
at midnight
Without you
I am nothing
All my sunsets
taste of blood and tears

The Dark of Night

As the rays of the sun, lay down for the night,
We rise from the gloom, away from day’s hateful light,
We laugh and we love, we are children of the moon,
We revel in darkness, in shadow and in doom,
We seek in the night, the peace that we crave,
We find it in twilight, as we escape from the grave,
Watch us, envy us, but take care what you find,
We are with you always…in the dark of your mind…

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

[from Second Coming, by William Butler Yeats]

For I am of the Children of Forever
I dwell in far valleys and great silences
In strange light and cold air
And on some mornings
I can see a banner in the clouds
